First Pin on Endless Traveling Map (2005 Hong Kong)

This is my very first travel post after 10 years of traveling. So let’s go back to the start! In 2005, I visited Hong Kong, one of the well-known places in Asia. During that time I don't know anything about travel, don't have any favourite destinations or anything that I want to see. It was a family trip and I just followed.

Traveling in ten years back was very different from now. We didn't have a smartphone, a good camera and the information from Internet was not as much as today. Word of mouth is pretty useful at that time; we got most of the recommendation from the mouth of our friends and relatives. And when we were on the ground, we rely on hardcopy tourist map a lot and also asking the people around to get to our destination.

About taking a picture, yes we saw people neither taking a selfie nor carrying a useful/harmful tool called selfie stick. At that time, I was not into photography yet, so I just brought along a borrowed camera and took a few shots of Hong Kong. Yes only a few shots, for 4 or 5 days trip, only less than 30 images taken.

On this trip, we went up to The Peak to witness the magnificent view of Hong Kong skyline. We got to The Peak by taking a tram at the Garden Road Peak Tram Terminus, which is within walking distance from Central MTR station.

If you are first timer in Hong Kong, most probably this will be one of your must see places in Hong Kong. Perhaps you can visit there in the late afternoon, so you can enjoy the day and the night view of Hong Kong skyline from the top.

If you wander around The Peak, you will find this passage that lead to Pok Fu Lam Country Park

The next place that we went was Wong Tai Sin Temple, a popular attraction in Hong Kong. This well-known temple is a home to Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism. Many tourists and local come here to do praying and offering. Many believe that their wishes will come true upon request. This temple can be easily reached by taking a MTR, it is just beside the Wong Tai Sin MTR station.

That's all for my very first travel destination and my very first time in Hong Kong. The rest of the activities were strolling down the street, shopping and trying out the Hong Kong delicacies like Dim Sum, Noodles, HK Milk Tea and etc.

After this trip, I did returned to Hong Kong again in 2010, 2013 and 2015.
