The Henry Cebu: A Hotel For The Art Lovers (Philippines)

When I was researching for our accommodation in Cebu city, I came across quite a number of beautiful hotels, but The Henry is the only hotel that leaves me a very deep impression. Why? The Henry is unlike any other hotel in Cebu, because it doesn't look like a hotel, it looks more like an art museum to me. With that, we decided to stay at The Henry Cebu for one night.

The Henry Cebu (formally known as The House of Cebu) is a boutique art hotel located in the city centre of Cebu offering 38 spacious rooms with unique furnishings, stunning murals and quirky decor. Every room is unique, featuring a different mural artwork by the Cebuano artist Mark Luzon, and that makes the stay here more special and unforgettable.

Lobby
As we arrived at the lobby of The Henry Cebu, we were greeted by their iconic red bowing man statue with a welcoming pose and of course also warmly welcomed by their friendly staffs with a beautiful smile on their face. The interior of the lobby has an edgy industrial style with a soft rustic charm, and it is decorated with many interesting vintage displays, old furnitures and contemporary art pieces. I really enjoyed touring around the lobby as if I was in a museum.

Room
The "Big" room that we checked in featured The Picnic Party II, a mural work inspired by Jack Vettriano. The vibrant color and the warmth furnishing of our room were well-blended creating a very cozy atmosphere. Initially, I was quite skeptical about the "Big" room, thinking whether is it really a big room? True enough, the room (36sqm) was really big, spacious and it came with a comfy king size bed and amenities such as 32-inch LCD TV, DVD player, cable channels, WiFi, handheld and rain shower, safety deposit box and minibar. With such a relaxing and comfortable environment, we found it hard to step out of the room!

Swimming Pool
The Henry Cebu also has an outdoor swimming pool, which is peacefully nestled in the rear garden surrounded by lush greenery. One side of the pool is flanked by sun-loungers, where you can chill, snacks and drinks under the sun.

Rica's Cafe
The artsy vibe of the hotel doesn't stop at the lobby or the room, it carries on into their in-house restaurant, Rica's Cafe, a comic-themed restaurant serving gourmet Filipino and Italian food. The Rica's Cafe is also the place where your complimentary hotel breakfast will be served.

2nd Floor
Go to second floor for the Qube Mobile Gallery if you want to discover more art pieces. There is a meeting room, Space 40, which can accommodate up to 40 pax and the foyer can house up to 100 pax for any events or conferences.

Location
Located along Maria Luisa Entrance Road, The Henry is just 5 minutes away from the Business & IT Park, 10 minutes away from Cebu North Bus Terminal, 15 minutes away from MyBus Terminal - SM City Cebu20 minutes away from Cebu South Bus Terminal, 20 minutes away from the Cebu Ferry Terminaland the Mactan International Airport is just 30 minutes away.
*Transportation tips: It is really a great and fun experience to take a Jeepney in Cebu, but if you are traveling with your big luggages or bags, I would strongly advise you to take a taxi instead, it doesn't cost much and this definitely will help the local community by allowing them to have extra space and comfort in their Jeepney journey.

Overall, our stay at The Henry Cebu was fantastic. We were highly impressed by their unique interior setting "like no other", their service was great throughout, the room was spacious and clean, and the price of our room didn't burn a hole in our pocket. Besides offering comfortable accommodation, The Henry is an extraordinary place for the art lovers. I believe The Henry Cebu could easily be one of the top hotels in the city of Cebu. Its more fun in the Philippines? Yes, it is especially when The Henry Cebu is around!
